Strange Advertising Slogans.

One of the funniest adverts I saw/heard when I was living in the US was for Valero (I think). For those of you that don't know them, they're a discount gas station chain whose gas was usually 3c to 5c cheaper per gallon than the competition.

Anyhow, one of their ads said they'd cover the cost of any engine rebuild if their petrol caused the damage. I'm not sure about you, but my first thought was "Their gas might cause engine damage?" I immediately stopped using the "value end" of the petrol station market.

I said that to say this. Recently Tangshan (a coastal city in NW China who is trying to attract tourists) started running the advert "Tangshan: Completely rebuilt since the 1976 earthquake." Isn't that nice?
