While I'm at it, I still don't like Hong Kong

I've been giving some extra thought to why I don't like Hong Kong, and it's definitely the whole "trying to sell you crud" thing.

You know those "Big Bus Tours" you see round big cities like London, New York and Washington? Well they have them in Hong Kong too. I've never been on the one in London, but if it's anything like the ones in the US, you get this potted history of the place, coupled with stops where some meritorious stuff happened (like the signing of the "Declaration of Independence" or where Ulysses S Grant was buried).

Anyhow, you get none of that stuff in Hong Kong. Nearly all the stops are "Get off here if you want to buy...." and to me, that's beyond depressing. Don't get me wrong, I like buying stuff as much as the next guy, but if you can reduce a place to "only buying stuff," you're royally screwed if you ask me.
