I really didn't know what to expect.

Monument Valley, where I am at the moment, is in the center of a Navajo Native-American Reservation. This is something I knew, but didn't understand, if I'm honest. The result is that I had a bit of a revelatory moment at the number of Native-Americans here when I arrived.

In my first year here I don't think I met any Native-Americans, and have only met a handful since then, so being in an area where they are pretty much the entire population is new to me. I'm also aware that I stand out here. Whenever I go pottering into town I'm usually asked (in a nice way) what I'm doing there. When I say I'm sight-seeing though, I've almost always got a "Welcome to the Navajo Nation," which is nice.
