I went to see "Halloween."

I went to see the Rob Zombie film "Halloween" yesterday. It won't win any Oscars, and the last hour or so way pretty much the standard "Mad Loony with Big Knife and Mask" fayre but the first 30 minutes or so were actually pretty good.

I have never seen the original Halloween but the fact that there is some attempt at an explanation for the bad guy's actions is a good thing I think (rather than just saying that he's a loon with a big knife) and it's that point that make the first 30 minutes "work" because we get to see how poor his life was.

In addition in the original series, I don't remember ever finding out why the bad guy went home after he escaped. I'm sure there was a reason, but if it existed, it got lost in all the chasing that occurred in the film. In this film we find out why he comes home, which makes the film slightly more plausible (if that sort of film can be in any way plausible).

As I said, the last 2/3 of the film is largely like the original, but if you like that sort of thing, you'll probably like enjoy of film.
