Nope, I still dislike New Year in China.

China doesn't really celebrate Christmas (no real surprise about that, I guess) or New Year. They have a similar celebration (called either the "Chinese New Year" or "Spring Festival" depending on your fancy) that occurs up to a month later instead (it's like Easter, subject to lunation).

Now I know that people see what's going on in Hong Kong, and might have seen something in Beijing this year. Consequently you might imagine the celebrations are widespread, but they aren't. They just aren't. There was even something on CCTV (the Chinese "mouthpiece" or BBC, depending on your point of view) about them doing something up in the capital.

Now I'm not one to go out partying, but even I miss it.
