Is "What are they actually saying?" difficult to understand?

I ask because if you ever go into a Chinese store near where I live, you get greeted with what sounds like "Hellomorningmorning." Clearly they can't be saying "Hello morning morning" but I was curious as to what they were saying, so I asked some of the kids I teach.

I have always got the comment "They're getting you" as a first explanation of what they're doing (which of course I've already worked out), but trying to get the students to tell you what they're actually saying seems to be impossible. I've asked 5 kids now and none have seemed able to translate it.
