I finished "The Good, the Bad and the Undead" by Kim Harrison and this was probably the best book of hers that I've read. It sees Rachel Morgan (a witch and the central character of Harrison's books) investigate who has been killing "ley-line witches" in her city.

The book is the second in a series of four books (though I'm wisely informed a fifth will be published soon). I've read the first, second and fourth book now and I think that this book works best because the author doesn't have to launch into all that much exposition of why witches, elves, pixies, vampires and werewolves are openly walking about. If this is coupled with the fact that the author doesn't have too much "back story" to over complicate the "current story," the was worth reading.
