I went to see "The Quiet" this evening

I went to see "The Quiet" this evening, and that was a strange little movie. It's a story about the impact a deaf high school student has on a family after she goes to live with her dysfunctional godparents after her father dies.

It reminds me of a similar film which starred Sara Gilbert and William Skerritt, but with the roles reversed (in that film it was the incomer who was "messed up") and less sex. I really wanted to like this movie, but I couldn't bring myself to do so if I'm honest. The whole family were pretty unpleasant and the incomer was just weird.

On a lighter not, I was in a bookshop when I saw a big coffee table size book of photography entitled "Fire Trucks in Action." To be honest that book makes no sense to me. I'm a huge fan of photography I will travel miles to see a decent photography exhibition, but I still don't understand that book. If it we a kids book, maybe I'd get it, but when it becomes one of those lush coffee table numbers I'm not so sure.
