It's not often I get ticked by a tennis match, but I went to see the TCU girls team play tennis today and I got irritated. Don't get me wrong. I can't play tennis. Even they worst player on the squad could take me to the cleaners, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to say "Oi, you two, no" to the number 3 doubles team of Andrea Morgado and Amy Beck.

First off, they aren't a physical presence. The two they were playing were bigger, stronger and physically more commanding. That doesn't mean that they're necessarily going to win though. You can beat people like that if you're scrappy, determined and prepared to keep them off balance. You need to play that way to beat them (unless you're physically more gifted, which presumably they weren't given their number 3 ranking in the school). They didn't, and they spent 40 minutes or so getting their butts handed to them on a silver platter with a side serving of embarrassingly onesided.

I wouldn't have minded if I thought they were trying, but every time they played a shot they would mentally stop for a split second to admire their handiwork. That irritates me. I've never really been one for school spirit, but when the mood takes me, I go all out. Unlike these girls apparently.
