I went to see "Talk to Me" yesterday.

I went to see the Don Cheadle film "Talk to Me" yesterday. It was a strange film about the radio shock jock (I guess) Petey Green, who was an ex-convict and current alcoholic when he landed his first radio job in Washington DC. It's supposed to be based on a true story, but as a Brit, it's not all that surprising that I've not heard of Green.

It was a really depressing film about a guy who's had a really hard bitten life and his manager, who doesn't really understand him. It focuses largely on his rise and his battles to get into the business. It speaks most strongly (I'd think) to the African-American community (it pitches the stereotypical "African American from the hood" against an "African American who works the system more"), but I think most people would enjoy it.

Don't expect an uplifting film though, as I said, it's depressing.
