One of the most infuriating things that I have found about America is the divisiveness of religious radio. A Pastor Raul was speaking today about what Christians might want to know about the religious beliefs of Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Mormons, Jehovah's Witness and Catholics.
I can completely understand Jews, Muslims and Hindus. They're major religions. You could meet them at any time and knowing what they believe could be useful.
I can understand Mormons. With Utah and Mitt Romney running for president, it's going to be useful to understand what they believe before you make any decisions.
Jehovah's Witness seem like an odd choice but what can I say, he chose to mention them.
I don't think I've been as furious at anything like his portrayal of Catholics as non-Christian in a long time. All major Western Christian religions (Episcopalian, Methodist, Baptist, etc.) either peeled off Catholicism directly or from a religion that peeled of Catholicism, so for him to say what he said makes no logical sense.
You might not like the structure of the Catholic church (you might regard it as too autocratic, but coming from a "hard line Christian" who believes slavish adherence to God's rules, that sounds retarded), but it believes that Christ is the Son of God, and that's the definition of being Christian.
