Anyway, we got held up in JFK. Not too much bother about, they were having thunderstorms and I don't think anyone wants to be in a cylindrical metal tube surrounded by gasoline during a lightening strike. What irritated me about that flight though was the fact that American Airlines kept us sitting in the plane for 2hrs before we took off.
Now American don't fly direct to Fargo (who would make Fargo a hub?), so we changed at O'Hare. The flight was due to leave at 9pm. At 8:30 (when we were supposed to board), the flight crew were at the gate. There was a plane at the gate. There were a bunch of people at the gate. Having got us all there, either American or O'Hare decided that it was far more important to get another flight off on time, and bounced us. The flight that replaced us was to Oklahoma City, a city that American does more business with, given it's proximity to their Fort Worth corporate HQ, so no coincidence there I'm sure.
We got there eventually (an hour late), and I'm sure there's a good reason for us to get bounced, but Fargoans (is that right, is my daughter right when she joked that they might be called Fargans?) need to complain more. Can you believe that fully 56% of American flights to Fargo are late or canceled.
